Quality Matters Program

Quality Matters (QM) has been implemented to establish and ensure the quality of distance learning courses offered at ҹӰԺ.

is a nationally recognized peer-review process that focuses on the continuous improvement of online courses. QM was developed by Maryland Online and was designed by faculty, for faculty, and is focused on the improvement of student learning. The peer-review process is designed to certify the quality of online courses. Through the review, faculty use the QM rubric which provides a set of shared standards of best practice.

As part of Innovation and Instructional Support's Quality Statement, QM supports creating an environment of continuous quality improvement that supports and strengthens ҹӰԺ’s mission, vision, values and goals.

The Official Quality Matters 6th Edition Rubricis the standard for design and continuous improvement of courses in Higher Education. This rubric is also available in checklist format online. Sign in with your ҹӰԺ credentials to gain access. This rubric is provided to support the ҹӰԺ Self-Review for Faculty Checklist, not as a substitute.

Introduction to QM(INTRO2QM)

This facilitated workshop introduces participants to the QM Quality Assurance System. A brief overview of QM is provided, followed by an exploration into the question, “Why QM?” QM Rubrics and thetypesof course reviews are introduced.Participants should plan on approximately 6 hours of classwork over the two-week period.

Applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR)

Learn the underlying principles behind the QM Rubric and the critical elements of the QM quality assurance process. Learn about drafting helpful recommendations as you apply the Rubric to an actual course.Participantsshouldplan for atleast 10 to 15hours of time per week to spend on achieving the learning objectives.This isusuallya 2-week workshopand has beenexpanded to 3 weeksto allow more timefor completion.
