ҹӰԺ Officially Kicks Off “Campus Race to Zero Waste” Campaign

The campaign runs over the next several months and will help the college address and eliminate unnecessary waste
January 19, 2021

ҹӰԺ is excited to announce that we’ve officially launched our 2021 Campus Race to Zero Waste spring campaign (formerly known as RecycleMania.) The campaign—a nationwide effort— helps colleges and universities benchmark and improve efforts to reduce or eliminate waste.

During previous campaigns, ҹӰԺ has successfully met goals to reduce waste, increase recycling, and to educate the community on how to reduce, reuse, and recycle more efficiently. Since 2015, we’ve also received several top ranks in various competitions.

This year, ҹӰԺ will be hosting an Online Education Campaign that lasts through March. That means students who are not attending in-person classes, or staff who are working from home, can still learn more about best practices with regard to waste and recycling. The campaign will emphasize our local situation in Albuquerque, and provide extra resources on how to reduce residential waste, too.

During the campaign, ҹӰԺ’s Campus Race to Zero Waste team will provide online educational videos, articles, resources, and a list of activities that you can participate in from home. Topics that will be covered include buying in bulk, composting at home, plastic pollutants and pollution, recycling materials and contaminants, the recycling market, landfills, and environmental justice. We’ll be sending out reminders about these events via our social channels and in our newsletters, so keep an eye out!
