Winners for the 2024 New Mexico Ethics in Business Awards Announced

The annual New Mexico Ethics in Business Awards program honors for-profit companies, non-profit organizations, and individuals in New Mexico that demonstrate a strong commitment to the highest level of ethical business practice in daily operations, management and personal philosophies, and in their response to crises and challenges. Nominations were reviewed and vetted by the New Mexico Ethics in Business Awards Screening Committee. The finalists went through an additional vetting process that included participation of ҹӰԺ business students.

This is the 25th Anniversary of the New Mexico Ethics in Business Awards, which is managed by ҹӰԺ New Mexico Community College (ҹӰԺ). The winners will be celebrated during the annual event that will take place on April 25 at Sandia Resort & Casino.

The 2024 winners are:

  • Glow Salon – Rust Award for Excellence in Ethical Business Practice by a For-Profit Business
    Glow Salon was founded in 2007 by Davida and Anthony Trujillo with the mission of providing a safe, beautiful, inclusive salon with a commitment to sustainability. The Glow Salon team provides personalized, attentive service and affordable luxury. Glow is committed to sustainability by recycling the salon’s waste and giving back to the community through charity. Glow provides paid continuing education for staff, ensuring they stay up to date with the latest trends, techniques, and innovations in the beauty industry. Clients can trust that the Glow Salon team is knowledgeable, skilled, and passionate. 

  • Marpac, Inc. – Rust Award for Excellence in Ethical Business Practice by a For-Profit Business
    Marpac is a manufacturing company with three divisions across two sites in Albuquerque. One division manufactures breathing tube holders; one performs contract cutting and sewing services; another designs and manufactures organic skincare products for other companies’ brands. Marpac has 55 employees and is proud to have a culture where every person is encouraged and supported to achieve their personal and professional goals. As a result, Marpac has been voted by its employees as a New Mexico “Top 10” best place to work for the past 11 years. Marpac works with its customers to find win-win opportunities and will continue those efforts as the company continues to grow.

  • M’tucci’s Restaurants – Rust Award for Excellence in Ethical Business Practice by a For-profit Business
    Launched in 2013 as a local Italian restaurant in Albuquerque, M’tucci’s celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2023 as an organization encompassing four eateries, a speakeasy, and a catering department, supporting over 350 employees. M’tucci’s is the Education Restaurant Company of New Mexico, partnering with public and private schools, offering industry professional development to its employees, and a free tutoring program for their kids. M’tucci’s also offers industry leading benefits, including an optional health care insurance program, a four-day work week for salaried employees, and a partnership business model that provides our dedicated staff a financial stake in the success of the company. We believe we are obligated to do what’s best for our people and, by extension, we care for our guests as we would family members in our own homes.

  • Explora – Hopkins Award for Excellence in Ethical Practice by a Non-Profit Organization
    Explora is an innovative experiential learning center with a mission of creating opportunities for inspirational discovery and the joy of lifelong learning through interactive experiences in science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM). Explora provides exhibits and inquiry-based programs that illuminate STEAM concepts and engage people of all ages. Working with the statewide community, Explora co-develops projects that address shared aspirations for creating a safe, child-centered community and a place to provide opportunities for cradle-through-career learning. Explora is committed to working systemically to improve educational outcomes, drive economic development, and build community prosperity through our Cradle through Career STEAM Learning Campus, which includes Explora, our X Studio teen center, and the new Brillante Early Childhood Center.

  • Moving Arts Española – Hopkins Award for Excellence in Ethical Practice by a Non-Profit Organization 
    Moving Arts Española was founded in 2008 by Roger Montoya and Salvador Ruiz to provide accessible dance and movement education to the underserved children of northern New Mexico. The children’s programs include gymnastics; multiple distinct art forms including visual arts, dance, theater and music; free healthy meals for students and families; and hands-on science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) classes. Moving Arts also offers work-based learning opportunities for teens and young adults such as storytelling through film, lighting and sound system operation, computer-aided design, and safe food handling and nutritional meal preparation. Using art, movement, technology and nutrition, Moving Arts fosters the wellbeing and empowerment of youth in northern New Mexico.

  • Dr. Everette W. Hill – PNM Award for Individual Excellence in Ethical Business Practice, in Honor of John Ackerman
    Dr. Everette W. Hill is the Managing Director of Social Innovation Strategies Group, LLC, an Albuquerque-based organizational development and management consultancy. A participatory
practitioner, Dr. Hill’s work lives at the
intersection of conscious design,
cultures of belonging, liberatory
practice, and ecosystemic change. For
over 30 years, he has led and supported
community, youth, policy, and
organizational development
initiatives – primarily partnering with non-profits, foundations, schools, and municipalities – spearheading systems change efforts to help institutions meet the pressing needs of serving communities and youth furthest from opportunity. As societies’ demographics rapidly evolve, Dr. Hill remains committed to scaling systems to deliver on the promises of equity and justice.
