Values Shout-Out: Carlos Ronquillo
Nomination by Chris Ricci:Â Carlos has helped me with several tasks that had me banging my head against the wall. For example, Accessibility Services needed to pull in multiple terms of student/faculty schedule data at a time to prepare for future term accommodations while also finishing out the current term (not to mention always wanting to run two terms simultaneously for credit and non-credit term codes). Â Previously we had to pick a date to switch from the current term to the future term which left us using manual/historic processes for students engaging with Accessibility Services in the last few weeks of a term as well as excluding our non-credit students/faculty from our process automation. Carlos took time to understand both the problem and the solution requirements and developed an elegant solution that met our needs as well as those of our 3rd-party vendor. This removed a major roadblock for automation and efficient processing for our students and employees.
Additionally, in the process of describing the needs I mentioned a challenge I was experiencing with classes that had more than one faculty member listed. I had been relying on faculty members to let me know there were additional faculty members and then I would collect the course information and other faculty information and update the class accordingly. While the functionality to automatically import additional faculty was not possible at that time, he was able to create a report that collected all these courses and faculty in one place so that I could manually add them in a fairly organized way without having to rely on self-report from faculty and then finding all the pieces on my own. Â
While Carlos could be nominated for so any ÎçÒ¹Ó°Ôº value, his enthusiasm for improving the user experience and his ability to think of "what could be" rather than "what is" is truly Inspiring.
