Values Shout Out: Arturo Baca
Nominated by Mark Danley: Arturo was assigned to keep the Smith Brasher lobby area clean during the recent Annual Conference of the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society (HAPS) hosted by ÎçÒ¹Ó°Ôº on May 27 and 28. It was enough that he gave up his holiday weekend to help us, but he also went above and beyond to keep the lobby spotless, emptying trash cans immediately when they were full, wiping off tables, and even assisting us outside with setting up and taking down chairs. Many of the people attending the conference noticed his work ethic and his happy attitude. When I passed on the compliments, he humbly accepted them. When we invited him to enjoy the breakfasts and lunches, he graciously thanked us and we let him take home as many leftovers meals as he wanted. Arturo was a delight to have around, and all of the ÎçÒ¹Ó°Ôº faculty who were present noted what an exceptional worker he was. I would like him to receive this award as a way to thank him for his extraordinary efforts to make ÎçÒ¹Ó°Ôº a welcoming place for the 400+scientists who came around the world.
