Values Shout-Out: Anthony Campos and David Johnson
Nomination by Felicia Caton Garcia: Yesterday evening, I served as the ÎçÒ¹Ó°Ôº point of contact as we hosted the Transgender Resource Center for their Transgender Day of Remembrance. When I showed up at four to begin setting up, I contacted Security to unlock the building. An officer named Anthony arrived shortly, and not only unlocked the building, but spent at least an hour with us helping out with a maintenance issue and audio-visual troubleshooting. Additionally, he was a friendly and welcoming ÎçÒ¹Ó°Ôº ambassador to the Center’s event coordinators. This friendliness means a lot to the transgender community who must so often navigate hostile and even dangerous situations. For them to see a member of our Security Team be not only respectful, but actively engaged and friendly in helping us set up for the event set a wonderful tone for the evening where people felt valued and safe.
When the event was finished around nine, I once again called Security to lock up, and, although I didn’t catch the name of the Officer who showed up, he was also incredibly friendly. He asked how the event had gone and seemed to be genuinely delighted to hear that it had been a great experience for everyone. You have some wonderful folks in Security, and I didn’t want to miss an opportunity to let you know how much I appreciate them.
