Kalynn Pirkl Selected as New Dean of the School of Business & Information Technology
The selection committee for the position of Dean of the School of Business & Information Technology is pleased to announce that Kalynn Pirkl has been selected as the new dean. Â
Kalynn has been an administrator at ÎçÒ¹Ó°Ôº New Mexico Community College’s (ÎçÒ¹Ó°Ôº), School of Business & Information Technology (BIT) for almost 6 years in the roles of Associate Dean and Interim Dean. Prior to those roles, Kalynn served as Chair for the Business and Office Administration programs. She has also served as faculty in both part-time and full-time roles for the past 20 years. As a faculty member, Kalynn was awarded a BIT Distinguished Faculty award and was a ÎçÒ¹Ó°Ôº Distinguished Faculty award winner. Kalynn has participated on various teams that worked to design and implement ÎçҹӰԺ’s Fast Track Business Administration degree, competency-based education, and other alternative modality programs. In 2015-16, she served as a Presidential Fellow focusing on the Online College initiative.Â
Kalynn obtained a Master’s in Business Administration in Organizational Behavior from the Anderson School of Management at the University of New Mexico and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration in Marketing from New Mexico State University. She has three years of experience as the Human Resources Director with Bowlin Outdoor Advertising and several years of management experience in previous roles. While at Bowlin, Kalynn had the opportunity to teach part time at the University of New Mexico. It was then that she discovered her love of teaching, especially at the post-secondary level. In addition to working at ÎçÒ¹Ó°Ôº, Kalynn owns a small architectural firm with her husband.
She is excited by her appointment to Dean of the School of Business & Information Technology and looks forward to helping the students, faculty and staff of BIT, and all of ÎçÒ¹Ó°Ôº, strengthen our community through our value-based approach to education.Â
