Steps to Becoming a Dual Credit Student

High school students at any public, private, or home school in the greater Albuquerque area can get a jump start on college by taking 1000-level and above classes at ҹӰԺ — and tuition and registration fees are waived!

*Dual Credit students only paycourse fees& uniform costs (if required).

Complete the steps below to get started:

*Homeschool students need to show home school registration with the New Mexico Public Education Department and provide us with state-issued ID number (Stars ID [a.k.a. Nova])

*Private school students will need to provide a state-issued ID number (Stars ID [a.k.a. Nova])


STEP 1: Apply and Get a ҹӰԺ Student ID Number

Submit a free . Be sure to select “Dual Credit” as your student type. You will receive a ҹӰԺ student ID number after applyingor one will beemailed to you.

Note: Please allow 1-2 business days for our admissions team to process your application. You will receive an email with your ҹӰԺ information once processed. If after three business days you do not receive anything, please call us at (505) 224-3352.

Please do not complete any of the steps below until you have your ҹӰԺ student ID number.


STEP 2: Complete the Dual Credit Parent/Guardian Agreement Form

All dual credit students are required to submit a completed before registering for courses. This form is submitted online using SignNow, an easy-to-use electronic signature platform.

Be sure that you have your ҹӰԺ ID number and STARS ID (a.k.a. Nova) ready, as these are required to submit your agreement form.

Step-by-Step Guide

2. Enter Required Email Addresses

  • Enter the student’s ҹӰԺ email address when prompted.
  • Enter the parent/guardian’s email address in the designated area.

3. Student Completes and Signs the Form

  • The student will complete all required fields and sign the form electronically.
  • Once the student signs, the form will automatically be sent to the parent/guardian’s email.

4. Parent/Guardian Reviews and Signs

  • The parent/guardian will receive an email from SignNow.
  • They will review the document and sign electronically.

5. Submit the Form

  • After the parent/guardian signs, the form will be automatically submitted to ҹӰԺ.
  • Both the student and parent/guardian will receive a confirmation email once the process is complete.

STEP 3: Set Up YourmyҹӰԺ Student Account

You will use your myҹӰԺ student account to register for courses, view your grades, and communicate with your instructors.

How to Log In

Use your ҹӰԺ email address (the username you received after applying — e.g., [email protected]) to log in.

Logging in for the First Time

If this is your first time logging in, your temporary password will be the last four digits of your ҹӰԺ ID followed by GoSuncats!

Example: 1234GoSuncats!

Reset Your ҹӰԺ Password (Recommended)

It is highly recommended that you reset your password after logging in for the first time. To reset your password, visit.

Your new password should:

  • Be at least 8 characters long
  • Include at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, and one number
  • Not include your name or ҹӰԺ username

Important Reminder

Check your myҹӰԺ email daily to avoid missing important messages from ҹӰԺ, including registration updates, instructor communication, and deadlines.


STEP 4: Complete New Student Orientation

All dual credit students are required to complete the online New Student Orientation before registering for courses.

How to Complete Orientation

and enter the following information to begin:

  • First name
  • Last name
  • ҹӰԺ student ID number
  • Date of birth
  • Complete all sections of the orientation.

Important Reminder

You must complete the Dual Credit Online Orientation before you are eligible to register for classes.


STEP 5: Assessment/Placement

Submit your official ACT or SAT scores. If you don't have these, please review your options below. Both options are free!

Math Placement: TheALEKS PPL Math Placement Toolis currently being offered remotely or at ҹӰԺ's Main, Montoya, Westside, Rio Rancho, and South Valley campuses. Exams must be scheduled in advance, and you must have your ҹӰԺ student ID number and a picture ID to take the exam.

Reading/Writing Placement: The Directed Self-Placement (DSP) tool does not require an appointment. You can take the DSP any time from a cell phone or other online device. Students needing a math placement score will still need to take the math portion of the ALEKS PPL.

Note:ҹӰԺ no longer offers the Accuplacer at our Assessment Centers; instead, we are using the ALEKS PPL for math placement. Accuplacer scores taken within the last five years can still be used to determine your first math course at ҹӰԺ.

STEP 6: Meet With an Advisor

It is recommended that you meet with a Dual Credit Advisor to discuss your course placement options. Be sure to bring your ACT or SAT scoresbefore your appointment.

STEP 7: Register for Classes

You will register for classes online through your student account.

How to Register

  • Log in to your myҹӰԺ account to access the registration system.
  • UseҹӰԺ's Course Catalog to search for available classes. This is a helpful resource when selecting your courses.
  • Dual Credit students can register for classes at the 1000 level and higher, except for fitness classes. You must meet any required prerequisites for the course.

After Registering

  • Print or download your class schedule from myҹӰԺ.
  • Ensure you have a zero payment balance on your account (Dual Credit classes should not have tuition charges, but it’s important to verify).
  • Note: Your high school will receive a weekly report of your registration activity. Schools have the authority to request the removal of any course(s) that are not approved. If this occurs, the course(s) will be dropped from your schedule.
  • Under the Dual Credit Program, tuition and registration fees are waived.

STEP 8: Get a ҹӰԺ Student ID Card

Bring a copy of your schedule and a State ID card or Driver's License to the ҹӰԺ ID Office to get your ҹӰԺ student ID card. If you don't have one of the above, bring a copy of your schedule and a high school ID. Students without a State ID or Driver's License may need to have their enrollment confirmed. ID cards must be with you when you're on campus.


STEP 9: Get Your Textbooks

APS Students (Comprehensive High Schools and Schools of Choice)

  • Complete the .
  • ҹӰԺ Library Services will respond with the status of your textbooks.
  • Additional information is available on the .

Charter School and Other District Students

  • Print a copy of your class schedule from your myҹӰԺ account.
  • Bring your printed schedule and your ҹӰԺ student ID to the ҹӰԺ Bookstore to pick up your required textbooks.

Important: Before visiting the bookstore, check with your high school counselor to confirm they have submitted a Dual Credit Students Bookstore Authorization List to ҹӰԺ. This list is required for you to receive your textbooks.

Private School Students

Check with your counselor. Some private schools may cover the cost of textbooks; if not, you may be responsible for purchasing them directly.

Home-School Students

You are responsible for purchasing your own textbooks. These costs are not covered by ҹӰԺ.

includED Digital Textbooks

Some ҹӰԺ courses use includED, a program that automatically provides access to digital textbooks on the first day of class.

  • Check your class schedule in myҹӰԺ for includED bookstore charges.
  • If your high school is covering textbook costs, you do not need to pay these charges (applies to public and charter high school students).
  • Details about required materials will also be outlined in your course syllabus.

STEP 10: Locate Your Classes

Go to theVisit ҹӰԺ page to locate the campus and building where your class(es) will be held.
